Issue 34 is now UP!

This was a fun issue to edit! Some wonderful haibun, haiga, Kyoka, and Rengay as well! Some of my ‘favorites’ outdid themselves as well, so all in all, I had a blast! My Internet has been very flakey of late and any solution is a year or so away. BUT this issue made me feel a whole lot better. Lots of announcements in the next week so stay tuned.

For now, you have a wonderful issue to read:

Thanks to all the poets who have supported Failed Haiku over the last three years. You folks are the best!

Mike

The October Issue is ‘Open Season’ Again

This month I am playing ‘Failed Editor’ again and will be enjoying it. No restrictions. BUT, I will have a hard close of the 25th!

The old man is back in the saddle!

Peace

Mike

Issue 33 is now UP!

Thanks to our Guest ‘Failed Editor’ Adjei Agyei-Baah! The theme he chose for this issue was ‘Family’, and I am amazed at the work in this issue, and he made it into a Full Issue with 174 pages! You have a lot to read and enjoy!!!

Read it HERE!

Submission Guide for September Issue!

This months ‘guest’ Failed Editor is Adjei Agyei-Baah!!!!

I would like us to explore the theme of FAMILY by way of senryu and haiga (senryu inclined). I think it will be a fine opportunity to know what has happened or is happening in each other’s lives. The boldness to share one’s life private life publicly in itself alone is a way of healing and preventing suicidal thoughts, while providing the opportunity for haijins and readers to learn from others situations.

You may submit just senryu or senryu based haiga under this theme!

Issue 32 of Failed Haiku is now UP!

Well, I missed you guys!!!!

But here is this months issue, with all my thanks to those who submitted!

Issue 31 is UP AND Murtha Contest Results!

My thanks to Chase Gagnon and Lori Minor for editing this issue. What a beautiful collection of haiga! My ‘guest editors’ have turned in to a real inspiration to me personally, and I hope you all feel that way too. Don’t forget to take a look at the zine they edit either. Scryptic is fast becoming a crowd favorite in the haikai world!

In this issue, we also have the Results of the H. Gene Murtha Senryu Contest! Steve Hodge and I had a real blast reading the entries, and as we did last year we also published the ‘short list’ so you could all see how difficult it was to choose a winner! Congratulations to every poet who participated, as well as the winners!

H. Gene Murtha Senryu Contest Results

Steve Hodge and I have finished the judging and the three top senryu poets have been notified by email. This was a contest of a special variety! So many fine poems and we both want to thank you all!

As we did last year there are a few dozen poems in the ‘short list’, and they will be published on July 1st with the winners!

While you are waiting please take a moment to read from Gene’s fine work and remember what a warm character he was, and how he influenced so many of us in our work:

Submissions for the July Issue now OPEN!

This month the Failed Haiku ‘guest editors’ will be Lori Minor and Chase Gagnon!!!

This is  HAIGA ONLY issue, and here are the editor’s guidelines:

“For this issue of Failed Haiku, We’re looking for Haiga! We want to see haiga that transcend both the image and the poem, and become something completely new — Simply put, we want to see the image and the poem “spark” together like steel and flint, creating a fire of resonance! All mediums are welcome, from photographs to paintings and everything in between. We can’t wait to see your work!”

PLEASE SUBMIT up to THREE HAIGA ONLY TO editor@failedhaiku.com!!! Submissions for this issue are now open and will close at midnight EDT on the 25th of the month.
