New Interview with author, poet, and humanitarian Hifsa Ashraf!!! This interview is something I cherish. We had some Internet issues travelling between Presque Isle, Michigan and Pakistan, but this delightful poet shined right through!!! Thank you Hifsa for being YOU!

At the very end of our interview, we lost the Internet connection. BUT, she was about to ask ME to be interviewed by her and Kala Ramesh! I had no choice but to accept, so that will be forthcoming shortly! I thank Hifsa for doing this interview and for being the person she is. We only need more Hifsa’s not less! Hifsa Ashraf, is a well-known author of several books and was recently shortlisted for the Touchstone Book Award that is presented each year by The Haiku Foundation. “Her Fading Henna Tattoo”, is a poetic tour de force on the topic of Domestic Abuse. Issue 64 is another over 200 page issue with some really great work showcased. Byran Rickert outdid himself, or maybe the poets did, but in any case it is GREAT!!!

Ron and I are friends, and we have known each other for over two decades. He lives in Tasmania, Australia, and is a successful practitioner of haiku, senryu, haiga, linked verse. He is a wonderful person.

Mike Rehling interviews Roberta Beary haiku poet and haibun editor for Modern Haiku. Wide-ranging you will learn her views on the form and all facets including haiku senryu, haiga, and haibun. She is also the Haiku Ambassador for The Haiku Foundation. Currently, she lives with her husband in Ireland. Roberta has published two books, one ‘The Unworn Necklace’ is in its fifth printing, and ‘Deflection’ a very personal collection available from Accent. She has also worked with two other established poet/editors Kala Ramesh and Ellen Compton to put out an anthology titled ‘Wishbone Moon’. This issue is over 200 pages of some of the most creative work I have edited. I told you there were no restrictions and many of you took me right up on the challenge. I love the experimental, but there are lovely, and sometimes very touching works in here as well. It just seemed to me that many of you were not focused on the craziness of 2020 but instead looked inside of yourselves and found not just hope but downright happiness. I feel the same way. Caged a bit, but my wife and I are closer and more in love than ever, and that is saying something!

This last year was a year of discovery for all of us, and a poet’s heart is wonderful thing and always up for the test. Peace and best wishes for the new year!!! I could not wait, so this issue is going up a few hours early so I can enjoy the bubbly with my wife undisturbed.
